چکیده
Transfusion-dependent thalassemia patients undergo transfusion immunomodulating effects, which result in a general immune response depression and, consequently, an increase the frequency of infectious episodes and neoplastic events due to reduction phagocytic function. Altered natural killer functions IL-2-mediated lymphocytic response, defects antigen presentation monocyte–macrophage cells, decreases bone marrow precursors HLA II+ cells all play key roles immunodepression major. SARS-CoV-2 infection presents marked lymphopenia, occurring 96.1% severe cases. COVID-19-related lymphopenia is various mechanisms, lead apoptosis. Post-COVID-19 quantitative functional disorders may compromise promote onset infections via opportunistic pathogens. Herein, we report case major patient who developed post-COVID-19 lymphocytopenia, have facilitated Klebsiella Pneumoniae infection.

متن کاملWatershed Infarct in Beta-Thalassemia Major Patient
Background. The mechanism of stroke in beta-thalassemia was reported previously as cardioembolic and hypercoagulable state. However, there is no report of watershed infarct in beta-thalassemia anemia. Method. We present an adult β-thalassemia major patient with manifest asymptomatic chronic left carotid occlusion who suffered watershed infarct. Result. In the presence of asymptomatic chronic le...
متن کاملThe probability of indicating Osteoprotegrin as a biomarker for osteoporosis in patient with thalassemia major
Background: Osteoporosis is one of the main causes of morbidity in patients with thalassemia major. Osteoprotegerin (OPG) is secreted by osteoblasts and osteogenic stromal stem cells and protects the skeleton from excessive bone reabsorption. In this study, the authors aimed to assess the relationship between OPG with osteoporosis and osteopenia in patients with thalassemia major. Materials an...
